A flavoursome, characterful Margaux.
Generous, deep and brambly with cedar spiced oak on the nose which mellows if decanted. The palate is rich and robust with lovely plum and herbal characters, a supple tannic structure. Open well in advance of drinking or decant to enjoy this very characterful Margaux at its best.
Château Castelbruck is the second wine of Château Haut Breton Larigaudière, a 15 hectare Margaux estate between Soussans and Arsac bought by the current owners, the Schepper family, in the 60s.
Soils are a combination of deep gravel, sand and clay.
After a cold maceration, fermentation takes place in both concrete and stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged in oak, 25% new, for 12 months followed by a further 8 months in stainless steel vats. The estate is HVE certified and managed sustainably. Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon 66%, Merlot 29% and Petit Verdot 5%
Match with a rib of beef or a roast leg of lamb.
