It jumps from the glass with notes of baked plums, boysenberries, and Morello cherries, plus touches of sauteed herbs, pencil lead, and underbrush. A balanced and aromatic wine

Calon was the name given to a kind of boat used in the Middle Ages to transport lumber from one bank of the Garonne to the other. At the beginning of the 18th century, the Marquis de Segur, who received the estate through marriage, added his name to it. And so, the label of this 3rd Classified Growth of Saint-Estèphe was born.
Château Calon-Ségur remained in the Capbern-Gasqueton family throughout the 19th century. In 2012, the property was bought by Suravenir Assurances, who continue to produce wines with an inimitable style and a pure expression of the appellation.
Château Calon Ségur has also become famous for the label adorning the bottles of the property. Since the 18th century, the heart has indeed served as the symbol of the property, paying homage to the following quote from the Marquis de Ségur: "I make wine at Lafite and Latour but my heart is at Calon". For nearly three centuries, fans of Château Calon Ségur have continued to remain loyal to this iconic property of the appellation.

The Château Calon Ségur vineyard covers an area of 50 hectares, of which 48 hectares are used for production. The vines, 20 years old on average, are planted in a thick layer of Garonne gravel dating from the Quaternary period, with a fine level of lacustrine clay on the top. These vines give rise to fine Saint-Estèphe wines.

The Marquis de Calon Ségur is the Second Wine of Château Calon Ségur.
