Elegant, well-made, cool-climate, mountain Merlot.
Restrained and elegant with fresh bramble fruit flavours and hints of dark chocolate and spice, well-balanced with smooth tannins. This is a lovely example of cooler climate Merlot and an excellent food wine, very much in a Bordelaise style.
When Eric Monnin (wine maker) first visited the long-established family fruit grower he was hugely struck by the beautiful, 200 year old hill-top hacienda whose wooden columns and ancient palm trees have magically survived all the biggest earthquakes in recorded history.
Long standing working relationships with growers in the region enables us to source premium fruit, with the ultimate aim of making excellent quality Chilean house wines with true style and character. Vines are between 40 and 60 years old and part of a 45ha estate where peaches and apples are also grown. The vines are unirrigated and the vineyard is cool with a unique rocky mountain soil and glacial streams.
Great food wine, serve with a juicy steak, savoury lamb casseroles, herby sausages or a char-grilled vegetable lasagne.
