‘Caduro’ (named after an international cable brand made at the former Wire Works) is a unique vatting of lightly-peated Derbyshire single malt matured in a combination of American and French oak.
Orchard fruit, banana and candy cane on the nose, with citrus zest, vanilla, cereal and honey on the palate, and a warm, spicy finish with rich mouthfeel and a wisp of smoke. Nose Pear drops, green apples, banana, orange marmalade, nutmeg, white chocolate, candy cane, vanilla fudge, marshmallow, marzipan, popcorn, burnt sugar. Palate Chocolate orange, treacle tart, liquorice all-sorts, tobacco, clotted cream, citrus zest, tea cakes, allspice, cereal, trail mix, baklava. Finish Butterscotch, mace, citrus, marmalade, crème brulee, vanilla sugar with a wisp of smoke.
White Peak Distillery is Derbyshire's first full-scale craft distillery, making award-winning Wire Works Whisky, Shining Cliff Gin and rum with a proud focus on unique Derbyshire provenance and heritage. Founded in 2016, we're still close to the beginning of our whisky journey. The first Wire Works Whisky was launched in February 2022 and been humbled by the response and excited for the future. Looking at every strand of the whisky making process in pursuit of flavour. To create Wire Works Whisky, they use local brewer's yeast, combined with an uncommonly long fermentation for a distinctive new make spirit with character before it goes into a cask. A small, dedicated team is at the heart of the Distillery. They craft whisky, gins and rum with care, and they mature, bottle and label them on site. Every member of the team is passionate about what they do - making spirits the proper way, with honesty and endeavour.
Both first fill ex-bourbon and White Peak's signature STR Casks (re-conditioned wine barriques that have been shaved, toasted and re-charred). The selection of STR casks, and proportion of French oak used for Caduro adds extra fruit depth and intensity to the lightly-peated spirit. Caduro is the founding member of the Provenance Core Range. Each release embodies our philosophy - a flavour-before-cask approach to whisky-making, rooted in a deep respect for Derbyshire's industrial heritage and legacy of innovation. Every drop is made with a commitment to full life-cycle provenance at the Wire Works, with mashing, fermentation, distillation and maturation all carried out onsite.
