Food Recommendations

Fresh and delicately aromatic with apricot, apple and lightly grapey notes. On the palate a sandy seam underpins ripe, juicy stone fruit flesh. A taut zesty wine with a clean, lightly floral finish. Best drunk in its youth this wine is not for later, it's definitely Fernao.

Strange Kompanjie Unlimited is a casual band of happy ferments. A circus tent of the Cape's stranger grapes and blends. They champion the unfashionable, experiment with the known and express the found before it gets lost. Strange Kompanjie is a cultivar club for the underdog.

Of the last blocks of Fernao left in the Cape this is the oldest at 30-something years old. In Portugal the variety is also known as Maria Gomes and was introduced in South Africa primarily for brandy production but fell out of favour. This is where Strange Kompanjie came in with their, before we lose 'em lets use 'em, ethos. Rock star winemakers are sniffing around this block now which is good for its future.

Coconut infused curry, monkfish with a mango salad, pan roasted chicken.
