One of our favourite house rosé. Traditional southern French varieties of Grenache and Cinsault are expertly blended to show the character and finesse in this great house rosé.
Absolutely fabulous! Pale salmon pink with hints of summer meadow flowers. This luscious blend has abundant rich berry flavours of Grenache and tangy Cinsault. Dry but with an appealing roundness and fresh finish. So ripe and so soft and fruity that it's hard to believe it's 'technically' dry.
The Oc, or Pays d'Oc as you'll see it on most labels, refers to the Languedoc-Roussillon region of southern France, known by the French as Le Midi. Geographically the Oc covers an incredibly broad swathe of vineyards from the Rhône delta in the middle of southern France, arcing all the way round to the Spanish border on her Mediterranean seaboard. Planted here are both traditional grape varieties such as Grenache Gris (which makes very fine rosé) and Grenache Noir (try Pasquiers for a full-bodied flavoursome find); as well as the cépages améliorateurs (varieties introduced in the last twenty to thirty years) such as Syrah and Merlot for reds, Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc for whites.
Ripened under the Mediterranean sun of southern France, then harvested at the precise point where ripe fruit and fresh acidity are perfectly aligned, Grenache and Cinsault - two traditional French rosé varieties - are vinifed using the classic rosé-de-presse method.
This involves a short maceration followed by gentle pressing to obtain the pretty colour of this sweetly-fruited, carefully balanced rosé blend without extracting unwelcome tannins.
