Diane and the King of St Tropez nights

Last week we posted a photo of Diane (the real boss of Hattersley Wines) in the Riviera with an eye catching white wrapped bottle of rosé. This was the iconic ‘White Tropez’ Rosé from Domaine Tropez.

Domaine Tropez is not your average winery. Yes, it produces high-quality wine, but it does so with a strong sense of identity, rooted in the carefree, creative, and cosmopolitan spirit of Saint-Tropez. The estate is relatively young in winemaking terms but has made waves with its commitment to both tradition and innovation. We have known about Domaine Tropez for many years however it was only last year we started importing their wine directly to the UK, and it has been greatly welcomed and enjoyed by many in the Peak District since.

Located just minutes from the coastline, Domaine Tropez benefits from the classic Provençal climate: long sunny days, cool sea breezes, and mineral-rich soils. These natural elements come together to produce wines with real character; fresh, aromatic, and full of personality!

You can’t talk about Domaine Tropez without mentioning Eddie Barclay - a French music producer, record label owner, and larger-than-life character whose name became synonymous with the glamorous Saint-Tropez lifestyle of the 1960s and ’70s. Eddie was known as the “king of Saint-Tropez nights.” His lavish parties were legendary, hosted at his white-walled villa, complete with flowing Champagne, dancing by the pool, and A-list guests from Brigitte Bardot to Mick Jagger. But beyond the glitz, Eddie was a tastemaker and pioneer. He discovered and promoted countless French artists and helped shape the European music scene for decades.

Barclay’s connection to the arts, his flair for elegance, and his zest for life live on in the DNA of Domaine Tropez. The estate pays homage to his legacy with wines that are not only high in quality but designed to be enjoyed in good company, celebrating the joy, freedom, and creativity that Saint-Tropez has always stood for.

You maybe wondering why a picture of Diane has prompted a story about the ‘King of St Tropez nights’… White Tropez is a nod to the influence and heritage of St Tropez. The bottle wrapped in white signifies the strength of ties and community that this winery has to St Tropez life and the legendary White Parties hosted by Eddie Barclay.

The White Tropez rosé itself is a modern, premium rosé that reflects the iconic Riviera lifestyle, effortless, stylish and always ready for sunshine. This is the kind of rosé that just feels like summer in the South of France. It’s beautifully pale, blush pink in colour, delicate and pretty. On the nose, you get lovely fresh aromas of strawberries, peaches, and a touch of citrus, all balanced on the palate with bright, invigorating acidity. It’s fantastically light, dry, and refreshing.

Imagine sitting outside with friends, the sun’s out, there’s some olives or grilled prawns on the table, and you’re sipping something cold and crisp that goes down way too easily; that’s White Tropez. It’s stylish without trying too hard and just makes everything feel that little bit more sophisticated. A perfect holiday-in-a-glass kind of wine.

Intrigued… then why not pop into the shop, as we have the White Tropez on for tasting in the Enomatic for the next couple of weeks.
